Welcome to Mookobuko

Our year-long trip around the world begins

Hi there — we’re Meg and Ryker, and this is where we’re going to share our journey around the world.

Starting in January 2026, we’ll be packing up our lives in Seattle and spending a year exploring Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond. Think cycling across islands, train rides through the countryside, street food markets, mountain hikes, and plenty of unexpected adventures along the way.

We built this site (with the help of Publii, GitHub, and Cloudflare) so that friends, family, and anyone curious can follow along. Expect:

• Travel journals — what it’s like on the ground, day to day.

• Guides & tips — things we wish we’d known before arriving.

• Photos & stories — the big moments, the quiet ones, and everything in between.

• Gear notes — what we’re carrying and how it holds up after months on the road.

Why “Mookobuko”? It’s a playful mash-up of our names that became a nickname between us — now it’s our travel brand.

• Moo, short for Moogan. Play on Megan, but the Moo is because she is NOT a cow. 
• Buko, short for bukoboots2 which has been Ryker's gamertag since he was 10.
